CMRT (Conflict Minerals Reporting Template)

The Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT) is a free, standardized reporting template developed by the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) for exchanging due diligence information on tin, tantalum, tungsten, and gold (3TG) across supply chains. It facilitates identification of smelters and refiners used, country of origin data, and compliance status. CMRT version 6.6 is the current version, released April 17, 2026, introducing two new Product List fields: Requester Product Number and Requester Product Name. The next version is anticipated in Spring 2027.

The CMRT is the industry-standard tool for conflict minerals data collection. Manufacturers use it to collect supplier data for their Reasonable Country of Origin Inquiry (RCOI) and, if needed, Conflict Minerals Report. Suppliers complete and return CMRTs to customers. The CMRT contains: declaration fields, product list, company information, smelter list, and smelter reference data. Using the latest version (6.6) is strongly recommended — customers conducting RCOIs for SEC filings increasingly require the most current template.

A U.S. electronics OEM sends CMRT 6.6 requests to 800 component suppliers. The OEM pre-populates the new Requester Product Number and Requester Product Name fields to match supplier declarations to specific product SKUs, reducing manual reconciliation. Suppliers return completed CMRTs identifying their 3TG smelters for review against the RMAP conformant list.
