Export Notification (DecaBDE)

The 2024 revision requires export notification to EPA for DecaBDE-containing wire and cable destined for nuclear power generation facilities outside the U.S. This provision ensures EPA awareness of DecaBDE exports even under the nuclear exclusion.

Companies exporting DecaBDE wire/cable for nuclear use must notify EPA before shipment. This is a specific requirement tied to the nuclear wire/cable exclusion—most other DecaBDE exports would be prohibited since most uses are banned.

A wire manufacturer ships DecaBDE-containing fire-resistant cable to a nuclear plant in France. EPA must be notified before export.
